Fall Harvest Cooking Class – October (2nd Serving) SOLD OUT

Due to popular demand, I’ve decided to add a second class for October!

Welcome back to my studio kitchen for our first cooking class of the Fall Harvest series, to take place on Thursday, October 30th!  With the changing of seasons we are reminded of the warm and comforting “hygge” that a delicious meal with friends can provide; that can even make the coming cold a little bit easier to accept!

This class will celebrate root vegetables and fall squashes and my own concord grape juice, flanked with the sugar pumpkin in both our first and last course.  I am a big fan of pumpkin:)  Some of the root vegetables that will be featured, including carrots, fingerling potatoes, parsnip, rutabaga, kale, garlic and onions are still tucked away in my garden as the days shorten and the temperatures drop, as this is the still the best place for them to live until we are ready to enjoy them.  While the class will officially start at 6:00, you are welcome to meet me in the garden from 5:30-6:00 to participate in the harvesting of our dinner vegetables.

Our evening will begin with a warm pumpkin soup with an Eastern flair, and then on to one of my favourite salads that utilize the underrated kale in it’s raw glory.  For our main we will enjoy an excellent flank steak, nestled in with a beautiful blended rutabaga and other root veggie favourites along with a unique vegetable that is found in many gardens in Northern Ontario, the Jerusalem artichoke, or sunchoke! And finally, we will settle in to a delicious pumpkin gingerbread cheesecake roll, a perfect way to celebrate the sugar pumpkin in this season.

Menu:

    • Curried pumpkin soup with coconut cream 
    • Kale salad with crisp chick peas, avocado, seared squash and smoky chipotle 
    • Flank steak with concord grape reduction, whipped thyme infused rutabaga and balsamic roasted root vegetables
    • Pumpkin gingerbread cheesecake roll, maple cream

Class is ~3.5 hrs in length and includes full recipes so that you can recreate this at home.  Bring a favourite person, your favourite beverage and your appetite for this delicious celebration of autumn. Space is limited so sign up soon!

Refund Policy

Your seat is confirmed once payment has been received. If you are unable to attend the class, please let me know at least one week in advance. A refund of 100% will be provided if notice is given at least one week in advance or if you are able to find someone else to take your spot. Less than 1 week notice will result in a 50% refund. Please contact me with extenuating circumstances.

Alcohol

While wine is not served or provided by A Fine Fit Catering, guests are welcome to bring their own. A safe ride home plan needs to be in place before any alcohol can be consumed. Please inform me of the plan for ensuring safe transportation following the class. If a designated driver is required, please arrange for transportation to ensure safety.

***PLEASE NOTE: Due to insurance requirements, as of November 2023, a signed waiver is required for all guests. Physical copies of this waiver will be made available at the outset of the class as well.***
