Take 2! This is the second offering of my November cooking class!
Welcome back to my studio kitchen for another cooking class of the Fall Harvest series, to take place on Friday, November 10th and Saturday, November 11th! With the changing of seasons we are reminded of the warm and comforting “hygge” that a delicious meal with friends can provide; that can even make the coming cold a little bit easier to accept!
This class will celebrate root vegetables and fall squashes, along with local microgreens, meats and cheeses. Some of the root vegetables that will be featured, including carrots, potatoes, turnips, onions and rutabaga are still tucked away in my garden as the days shorten and the temperatures drop, as this is the still the best place for them to be stored well.
Our evening will begin with one of my favourite salads that use root vegetables in their raw glory, and then move on to a Thai inspired blended squash soup that, while both gluten and dairy free, is packed with flavour and is sure to be a repeat recipe. For our main course, we will be celebrating Rainy River Elk Co. elk (who recently moved and sold me their remaining elk) in a Julia Child classic with a Rhonda Bill twist. And finally, we will settle in to a delicious pumpkin gingerbread cheesecake roll, a perfect alternative to the usual festive desserts.
- Shaved root vegetable salad over microgreens, with Thunder Oaks Gouda and bacon
- Thai curried fall squash soup, lime and coconut cream
- Elk & Beef Bourguignon with roasted garden vegetables
- Pumpkin gingerbread cheesecake roll and maple cream
Class is ~3.5 hrs in length and includes full recipes so that you can recreate this at home. Bring a favourite person, your favourite beverage and your appetite for this delicious celebration of autumn. Space is limited so sign up soon!
Cost is $85 per guest (including HST but not including gratuity). Register through e-transfer to email@example.com and be sure to make a note of the particular class this is for in the memo!
Your seat is confirmed once payment has been received. If you are unable to attend the class, please let me know at least one week in advance. A refund of 100% will be provided if notice is given at least one week in advance or if you are able to find someone else to take your spot. Less than 1 week notice will result in a 50% refund. Please contact me with extenuating circumstances.
While wine is not served or provided by A Fine Fit Catering, guests are welcome to bring their own. A safe ride home plan needs to be in place before any more than one alcoholic drink can be consumed. Please inform me of the plan for ensuring safe transportation following the class. If a designated driver is required, we can arrange for Granite Town Cars or other transportation to ensure safety. An additional charge would incur for this service.
