Aprilā€™s cooking class ā€“ Caribbean Flavours (SOLD OUT)

By April, we often find ourselves pining for Spring to arrive, and this winter is no different as we see snow in the forecast for this week!  I imagine many of us are wishing we were perhaps in the Caribbean somewhere.  Well, I canā€™t make that happenā€¦. but I can bring the Caribbean to us! As Iā€™ve spent a number of years in the Bahamas as a school teacher and continue to frequent the islands with my family, the recipes will be closely linked with the Bahamian style and flavour palette, with a few shout-outs to Jamaica and Mexico.

We will indulge in rich Gouda macaroni bites with a bit of kick, and make ceviche using our own walleye from Eat the Fish.  The main course will feature fresh jerk marinated pork tenderloin with exotic mango and jicama slaw and classic Bahamian peasā€™nā€™rice, perhaps the most popular side dish on the islands.  And finally, weā€™ll end our evening in the tropics with classic rum cakes with coconut cream.

Local producers featured this month are:  Thunder Oaks Cheese Farm, Big Lake Pasta, Eat the Fish, Prime Gelato, Veg-e-tate Market Garden, Heartbeat Hot Sauce and Belluz Farms (superiorseasons.localfoodmarketplace.com)

  • Spicy Bahamian macaroni bites with Thunder Oaks Gouda

Registration

Cost is $92 per guest (including HST). Register through e-transfer to info@afinefitcatering.ca and be sure to make a note of the particular class this is for in the memo!  While this class is sold out, please contact me to be added to a waiting list for the potential date of Thursday, April 17th.

Refund Policy

Your seat is confirmed once payment has been received. If you are unable to attend the class, please let me know at least one week in advance. A refund of 100% will be provided if notice is given at least one week in advance or if you are able to find someone else to take your spot. Less than 1 weekā€™s notice will result in a 50% refund. Please contact me with extenuating circumstances.

Alcohol

While wine is not served or provided by A Fine Fit Catering, guests are welcome to bring their own. A safe ride home plan needs to be in place before any alcohol can be consumed. Please inform me of the plan for ensuring safe transportation following the class. If a designated driver is required, please arrange for transportation to ensure safety.

***PLEASE NOTE: Due to insurance requirements, as of November 2023, a signed waiver is required for all guests. Physical copies of this waiver will be made available at the outset of the class as well.***
