June Cooking Class: Eat with the Seasons

As life begins to emerge from the soil, I want to welcome you to my first “Eat with the Seasons” in-studio cooking class of the summer!  This class will celebrate some of our best local producers and our earliest garden produce as I cook delicious courses for you based on what is in season right now.

We’ll start our evening with a quick tour of the garden as we pick some perennials of fresh rhubarb, asparagus, chives and herbs.  Then we’ll get right into it with a light appetizer of grape tomato, basil and Gouda skewer with balsamic reduction, hailing from the Slate River Valley with DeBruins veggies and Thunder Oak Farms cheese.  Then we will enjoy a lovely salad of Jodi’s Belluz Farms fresh greens and shoots from Veg-e-tate Market Garden, topped with Walkabout  Farm’s  sheep’s feta and smoked trout from Eat the Fish.  As our main course, we celebrate the early perennial asparagus stuffed in chicken along with Big Lake Pasta’s casarecce in a vodka sauce.  And finally, to finish off our feast, we will prepare individual pies with fresh-picked rhubarb and Brule Creek flour, topped with Prime gelato.

Bring your partner or a friend and your appetites for this delicious tour of what can be found locally in June!
